Balanced with Monin Pure Cane Sugar syrup for clean sweetness, this Espresso Martini delivers bold flavour, silky texture and that signature foamy crema on top. Ideal after dinner, before dinner, or whenever someone needs a drink that wakes them up while calming them down. ## You will need - Cocktail Shaker - Strainer - Martini Glasses ## Ingredients - 20ml [MONIN Pure Cane Sugar Syrup](https://www.nextdaycoffee.co.uk/monin-pure-cane-sugar-syrup-700ml-1351) - 50ml Vodka - Double Espresso --- **Tasting notes:** Bold espresso, smooth vodka, bittersweet coffee liqueur, velvety crema, lightly sweet, rich and aromatic. ## How to make MONIN Espresso Martini 1. 1 Fill your cocktail shaker with ice. 2. 2 Add the Cane Sugar syrup, vodka and espresso. 3. 3 Shake until the outside of the cocktail shaker feels icy. 4. 4 Strain into chilled glasses. 5. 5 Garnish each one with coffee beans. 6. 6 Enjoy. --- **Why This Recipe Works:** Hot espresso creates natural foam when shaken, giving the drink a thick, velvety crema that looks and tastes polished. The Monin Pure Cane Sugar syrup provides reliable sweetness without graininess, letting the espresso and liqueur shine. The simple ratio of vodka to coffee liqueur keeps the drink strong but smooth, while the syrup rounds off bitterness without dulling the flavour. It’s consistent, balanced and easy for anyone to mix. ## Espresso Martini FAQs ### What alcohol is used in this Espresso Martini? This version uses vodka as the sole spirit, giving a clean base that lets the espresso flavour stand out. ### Does this recipe contain coffee liqueur? No. The Monin recipe relies on fresh espresso and Pure Cane Sugar syrup for sweetness and depth, eliminating the need for coffee liqueur. ### Why does the drink form a thick crema on top? Hot espresso creates natural foam when shaken with ice. The rapid chilling and aeration produce the signature creamy top layer. ### Do I need fresh espresso? Fresh espresso delivers the strongest flavour and the best foam. Pre-made or cooled coffee won’t produce the same crema or intensity. ### Why is syrup used instead of sugar? MONIN Pure Cane Sugar syrup dissolves instantly, giving smooth sweetness without graininess and keeping the texture clean. ### What glass should I serve it in? A chilled coupe or martini glass is standard, as it highlights the crema and keeps the drink cold. ### Can I batch this cocktail? You can pre-mix vodka and syrup, but espresso should be added fresh and shaken to order. This preserves both the aroma and the crema. ![Monin Espresso Martini Recipe](https://www.nextdaycoffee.co.uk/images/recipes/Monin-Cocktails/espresso-martini-cocktail-recipe-001.jpg) ## About this recipe A smooth, coffee-energised cocktail — ideal when you want a bit of sophistication and kick, blending rich espresso flavours with a hint of sweetness.
